October: Waikato News from Robyn

Oct Waikato ResizedWe ended August with a fun session on Daffodil Day at the Bandroom on Clyde St in Hamilton. We were treated to a lovely display of quilts, examples of light-box applique technique, stamp & card-making, scrapbooking and photo albums. Many thanks to the members Wendy, Rose and Robyn; Service Provider Dianne, and Patrice Haliday-Larson who demonstrated then helped members to make a beautiful card.

The donation of card and scrapbooking supplies from member Wendy was also greatly appreciated. We had plenty of delicious food for our pot-luck lunch, and the low-key atmosphere gave everyone time to chat and relax together. Because the feedback about the day was so positive, we will do something similar again in summer. Handcrafts certainly help to pass the time when energy levels are low, and the results can be absolutely stunning.

East Waikato members met at Robert Harris café in Matamata during the month which was a nice occasion as usual, and I will continue to try to have a meeting there every two months.
